A tablespoon of hope....

You know, lately life just feels harder. Several friends and family members are struggling financially, jobs are feeling less secure and money is just not flowing anywhere. Every time I read an article it seems to be about money woes and how this program is being cut and this group of people will suffer!!! I mean, COME ON! I want some good news folks.

I want to hear that this too shall pass. I want to hear about how families are more connected because they are spending more time together and healthier from cooking at home and not going out. I want to hear how families are getting in shape together because they don't have the money for fancy vacations or the latest games, so instead they are playing at the park and going on bike rides.

I have hope that we are just about through the worst of it. I have hope that as a nation we will be stronger, Because of this economic mess we now know that we need to survive on much less. I hope we can focus NOT on having what we want but ON wanting what we've got!

I am praying for all my friends and family. I am praying that we can celebrate feeling lighter and happier soon. I love you all!

Summer lovin

Summer loving had me a blast
Summer loving happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me
Met a boy cute as can be
Summer days drifting away to oh oh the summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more
Did you get very far
Tell me more, tell me more
Like does he have a car

She swam by me she got a cramp
He swam by me got my suit damp
I saved her life she nearly drown
He showed off splashing around
Summer sun something's begun but oh oh the summer nights

Tell me more, tell me more
Was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more
Did she put up a fight?

Took her bowling in the arcade
We went strolling drank lemonade
We made out under the dock
We stayed out till ten o'clock
Summer fling don't mean a thing but oh oh the summer nights

Tell me more, tell me more
But you don't gotta brag
Tell me more, tell me more
Cause he sounds like a drag

He got friendly holding my hand
She got friendly down in the sand
He was sweet just turned eighteen
Well she was good you know what I mean
Summer heat boy and girl meet but oh oh the summer nights

Tell me more, tell me more
How much dough did he spend?
Tell me more, tell me more
Could she get me a friend?

It turned colder that's where it ends
So I told her we'd still be friends
Then we made our true love vow
Wonder what she's doing now

Summer dreams ripped at the seams but oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more

Happy Birthday Bridget! Happy Birthday Chuck!

OK....I know... I know..Bridget's Birthday is on July 16th and I believe (tell me if I am wrong) that Chuck's on July 18th!! I know you don't "share" a Birthday, but coming from a twin who knows all to well about sharing...I need to wish you both a GREAT DAY together! Oh my goodness....Lila will be here on Monday, July 20th!! Another wonderful day to celebrate!!!

We love you Bridget! We love you Chuck! We think Lila is the best gift in the world!! Thanks for making us an aunt and uncle again and for bringing some more girl power to the Bailey family!! Casey cannot wait to meet Lila!!!

Erik is 6-months-old

Erik turned 6-months-old on June 30th. We just had his 6-month appointment today with Dr. Nunna. He is healthy and strong and just about sitting up. He rolls over like a pro and is beginning to eat solid foods. Here are his stats:

Height: 26 3/4 "
Weight: 15 pounds, 13 ounces

No wonder we think he seems small... When you compare him to Casey's 6 month stats:Casey was 19.8 pounds and 29 inches long at 6 months.

Erik doesn't have any teeth yet, but the drool tells me that a few are coming really soon. He has "found" his voice and likes to talk..he babbles a lot and it sounds like "Da-Da". He smiles and laughs easily. Casey is his favorite person. Casey can make Erik laugh the most.

Erik is just a little doll and even though he has been waking up again at night, making Pedar and I feel a bit like zombies...we adore him...every moment. Look at how fast 6-month's happened?? Before we know it he will be walking!!

Auntie Myrt

Auntie Myrt

Auntie Myrtle passed away peacefully this morning, just 6 days after her beloved sister Dagny. She was 94-years-old. Dagny and Myrtle had an amazing bond... they were married together, came to California together and lived two doors down from each other their entire adult lives. They bought the cabin in Tahoe together...where there was one, there was the other. This past December they were joined again under Grandma's roof. They held hands all day long. We will miss them so much, but are comforted knowing they are together...dancing with Earl and Albert.

Grandma Dagny

Born in Dickinson, North Dakota to Pedar and Hjordes Remme on March 17, 1917, Dagny, a longtime resident of Sacramento, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2009. She will be remembered for her strong faith in God, the love she shared with her family, her nurturing ways, daily sense of purpose in life, a child-like enthusiasm for gardening, cooking, Norwegian heritage, and passion for the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. Dagny was preceded in death by beloved husband Albert Hoffer, sisters Sylvia, Babe, Esther, and brothers Leif, Stanley, Palmer, Orville and Henry. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jim) Bruce, grandchildren Leif (Sierra), Pedar (Nora), Dagny, great-grandchildren Ava, Casey, Lola, Erik, brother Bill, sister Myrtle, and all of her beloved nieces and nephews.

We love you so much Grandma. We will never forget you and we promise to tell Erik and Casey all about the amazing Grandma Dagny.
