Change the channel

Yesterday I was letting the green-eyed-monster, I call her, Ms. Envy, get into my head.

I was letting my head take me into a bad neighborhood of thoughts. I was getting sad and angry and lonely and dare I say it, depressed. I knew I had to snap out of it! So, what did I do? I dragged out the Halloween decorations!! Yes, my house is decorated! While I was dragging out the decorations I was cursing the damn unorganized garage. Maybe I could have waited to decorate until it wasn't 100 + degrees in my garage, but I needed a pick-me up and I got it.

The boys LOVED going through the decoration box. Casey wanted to help me decorate every inch of our house. He is all love and fun. He got me back to my happy place. I was able to change the channel of my thoughts from yucky to happy.

Pedar came home to Halloween central last night. We made a delicious dinner, put the kids to bed and enjoyed some Ginger Elizabeth chocolate and red wine. We cuddled on the couch and watched our favorite show, "Modern Family." The show was all about showing affection, so we showed each other some.

Some day my garage will be organized. Some day we will have a lot more new and a lot less old. The one constant in our lives is change. I look forward to some change in our lives. I look forward to a lot more of FUN!

Siblings

These two little guys love each other. They fight, they play and sometimes they even hug and kiss. Casey thinks Erik is really cute and Erik thinks Casey is awesome. It works for them.

They love one another so much that minutes after Casey is rough with Erik, or I have made Casey give Erik a toy, they move on, they forgive and they love again.

I learn so much from watching them.

My little soccer stud

Casey is playing soccer for the first time. He doesn't love it, but he is trying. He takes direction pretty well, he just loses focus easily. He is polite and wants to please, and lord knows that can take you really far. He is excited about trying t-ball, I keep telling him we have to finish soccer first. Yesterday he really didn't want to practice in the 100+ degree heat. I didn't really want to "watch" practice and chase Erik in the heat either, but we are committed to the Gladiators. When we got to practice, he stopped complaining, jumped out the car and ran to be with his team. He was just seeing if I would fold, glad I didn't. I hope that we are teaching Casey that showing up, doing your best and honoring your commitments is really important.

Erik is starting to be a little parrot. This video isn't the best example of his chatty skills, but it is just so cute I had to share.

My little Margie

I woke up around O'Dark Thirty on Sunday to drive to Lower Lake to take Margery's 9 a.m. Bikram yoga class. It was fun watching the sunrise. It was a very peaceful drive. I got to the gorgeous studio with plenty of time to spare and was greeted by her students with lots of "Oh my goodness, your Margery's sister!"

I know, it has taken me FOREVER to get my butt out here. I visited Margery two years ago in Clear Lake. I brought Casey to play with our cousin Stephanie and her little guy Dustin and I was very pregnant with Erik. I got to see her Bikram studio, but not much else. This time I got to see it all and meet so many of her lovely friends.

This is her studio:

Margery kicked my butt. Bikram yoga is 26 postures for 90 minutes in about 105 degree heat. I made it through the class, but man oh man, only by the skin of my teeth. Margery is an EXCELLENT teacher.

Margery told the class that the older she gets, the more she has come to realize how lucky she is that she chose to come to this earth as a twin. She told the class she is especially lucky to be my twin. She then started to sing "Sisters". So while I was lying there all choked up, I joined her song and we gave her class an impromptu performance. It was sweet, and it just made me miss her all the more.

After class I enjoyed a wonderful shower in one of the studios outside showers. So lovely. I got to shower with a few tiny friends too!

We were invited by her dear friends, Jo and Dennis to lunch and a boat ride, so we only had a bit of time at her house. We were greeted by Chester, Toothpick and Pretty. This is Chester.
Margery is house-sitting for her friends while they try and sell their gorgeous home. It is on 8 acres and has its own gorgeous dock.

We met Jo and Dennis for lunch. Jo is one of Margery's students. Dennis and Jo are the most generous and loving people.

I was so happy to know that she has these amazing friends looking after her. We enjoyed delicious food and live music at the little marina grill. We even danced a little.

After working off our lunch, Dennis and Jo took us for a boat ride around the lake.

After the boat ride it was time for me to head back to Sacramento. I wanted to stay longer. I wanted to have more time with her, but I had to go. I hope to be back soon, with the boys.

I love you, Margery. I'll be seeing you soon.

Happy Saturday!

Oh Happy Day! No work, no soccer, no school...just get to do a few chores and play. Hurrah! Hurrah!

Erik is napping right now and Pedar and Casey are out running errands. I am supposed to be cleaning the bathrooms and tidying up, but I wanted to write a random blog first. It is good to have priorities!

Here is a random list of thoughts that plague me...

1. Why can't I keep my floors clean?
2. Why does it seem like we are ALWAYS going to the grocery store?
3. Why does Casey get LOUDER when Erik goes down for a nap?
4. How do I keep up with Casey's feet? He is in a size 2 shoe and has outgrown every pair of shoes but two. The boy will now only own two or three pairs of shoes at one time. He isn't even six yet!
5. Why are so many parents so competitive? Why can't we focus on raising loving and kind kids, rather than super smart or athletic kids? I want my kids to win a trophy for best manners. It is going to be hard, but I'm gonna try.
6.  The older I get, the better I am at not caring if I'm liked or not. Man, I have wasted so much time!!
7. Some day I am going to get rid of my spider veins!
8. I need to start using teeth whitener. Pale skin and yellow teeth = not pretty
9. I've decided a clean house is overrated.
10.We really do have more in common with one another than we think.

Culmination Day!

Today was Culmination Day at Casey's school. He is only one full month into Kindergarten and today he was singing and dancing in front of a HUGE crowd. I didn't manage to get many pictures, but I think Nana did, so I will try and post her pictures later.

Erik and Aunt Lorraine! She is the sweetest woman!! We all adore Aunt Lorraine!

We love Mission Avenue Open School. We are so lucky to be a part of this awesome community of teachers, parents and students. On Thursday night there was a potluck at the school for all the kindergarten kids and their families. We met some wonderful people and enjoyed reuniting with lots of friends that Pedar went to school with.

We love Bannon!

This is Bannon Harry Abrams.

Bannon came over last Saturday night with his folks and his Auntie Jen. We love Bannon. We love his parents Aaron and Carina and his Auntie Jen too. I'm sorry I don't have a pictures of the rest of the group, I was too busy taking pictures of Bannon. We haven't hung out in awhile and he is crawling and almost walking and we heard him say, "Da-Da!" It was a very cool moment. I think I saw Daddy Aaron swell with pride right before my eyes!

Casey and Erik LOVED playing with him and sharing their toys and getting to know him. Now that he is ten-months-old, he is so much more ready to play with the big boys. Bannon will be one in November. I think Bannon and Erik and Casey are going to be great friends!

"Hi! I'm Bannon. How you doing? Hey ladies, I'm almost walking, so pretty soon I can take you out out on the town!"

The boys loved playing "fort" under the kitchen table.

Bannon and Casey had a good thing going the other night. I think they like one another, what do you think?

We love you, Bannon! Come play with us again soon, OK?
