Happy 5th Birthday, Erik

Today our little dude is five-years-old. Erik is finally close to 40 pounds and getting taller. He isn't a great eater, but he sleeps like a champ. He loves running and playing outside. What he lacks in size, he makes up in noise. He is tough, he can handle a lot of rough play with his big brother. He is affectionate and sweet, always wanting to help with cooking or chores. He is romantic. He recently told his teacher, "I think my eyes are falling in love with you."

Erik is funny. I've been watching old videos of the kids. This VIDEO of Erik at four-months-old shows how happy he has always been. Check out this VIDEO of Erik at almost two-years-old. Oh and look at this VIDEO!

We love you, Erik, to the moon and back. Casey loves you and Curly too! Your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends think you are the bees knees too. We love watching you learn and play. You love learning and the smallest things excite you, reminding us to get low and learn too. Thank you for being such a great kid.

Errand time

We inherited this couch from Pedar's folks. They moved out of their house this weekend. Yesterday it was all done. So now the yucky part of unpacking and finding a place for everything is happening.
I took down Christmas yesterday. Feels good. However, our house feels so plain now that I have removed all the decorations. I feel like I need to put up some wallpaper or stencil some walls. I want to buy some candle thingy's, lamps, trays, knick-knacks and artwork. Feeling the need to decorate!!
Bye bye, tree!
Took the boys out to eat last night. I was done eating leftovers and was not inspired to cook. That and we hadn't left the house much since the 23rd. Felt good to be out in the world. I think I'll head out again now, the boys need haircuts. I need to hit the hardware store and TJ Maxx or Marshalls!! Pedar is using his muscles to help his folks. Kinda wish I was there, but the boys would not be helpful. We know what it is like to unpack with kids-- it's just chaos and you are constantly interrupted -- not putting that on anyone.

Margie called me this morning! She sounded good. I can't wait to see pictures!

Have a good day everyone! Sending lots of love and prayers out today!!

Birthday curtains

So after our awesome day in San Francisco to celebrate Casey's 9th Birthday- we came home to a big surprise from Nana! She had made Casey new curtains for his bedroom!! She used iron-on transfer paper to put his artwork on the curtain. They look awesome!!
Thank you, Nana!! Casey loves seeing his artwork displayed!!!

Merry Christmas

We went to the children's service at St. John's on Christmas Eve. It was beautiful. The kids loved it.
Favorite part? Lighting the candles of course!

This Christmas just feels extra wonderful. I hope that you are feeling loved and happy. I am so grateful to my friends, family and co-workers for helping me throughout this incredible year. Pedar and I feel so lucky. I'm whispering and singing prayers of gratitude. Thank you!! Thank you!! Peace on Earth!

Happy BIrthday, Leif!

We thought you might want to start your day with a chant from Erik! "Lose Ducks, Lose Ducks, Lose Ducks, Lose Ducks! Put your girl panties on!!" He is forever a Beavers fan because of his Aunt and Uncle!

I love how you two love.
I love your girls something fierce!
We hope you have an awesome Birthday, Leif! We love you very much and are very proud of you.

Exploratorium 12.22.13

Casey loves his superhero dudes.
The blue bike was his old bike. He did not fit it well anymore at all! He LOVES his new bike!
On Sunday, after we let Casey play on his new bike and superheroes for a little bit, we jumped in the car and headed to the Exploratorium. The weather in San Francisco was so warm and so lovely. We walked a ways from our parking spot to the museum,  enjoying the sunshine the entire way.

Toothpicks people!! Toothpicks!!!
Orange hangers made this awesome chandelier!
We walked about for around two hours and then got a light lunch and headed back in the museum for two more hours. You could easily spend eight hours at the Exploratorium.

We ended the day with a pedicab ride back to our parking garage. The boys loved it!!
Erik slept the entire ride home and woke up just in time for dinner in downtown Sacramento. Casey chose Mikuni for his birthday dinner! He enjoyed lava cake and he got to spin the wheel.
He won rice candy. Erik was a little sad that he didn't get to spin the wheel--so Casey gave him his candy! That was my favorite part of the day!
