Happy 4th Birthday Casey!

Today our baby boy is four-years-old. We are home sick today..but we are rallying. Poor little Casey had a bad bout of croup the other night and now is holding a nice 101+ degree fever. He is currently asleep on the couch..looking so sweet and peaceful. It is crazy when Casey has no appetite and no just feels so wrong. I am grateful that I have not gone into labor because I really want to see Casey feel better before his whole world gets turned upside down with a new baby brother.

We love you Casey. You are the sweetest, silliest little boy and we are just so incredibly lucky to be your parents!

Hanging out...

We went bowling on Friday night for the first time with Casey. He had a great time. The next morning we all woke up slow and just hung out before all the parties took off. We had a family Christmas party Saturday night and we hosted a small Birthday party for Casey this afternoon. We're all fighting colds and I feel like a watched pot! Hope everyone is hanging in there...Hugs and love to you all!

Happy 5th Birthday Ava!!

Our beautiful niece Ava is five-years-old today. She is not only beautiful on the outside but she is so caring and loving. She has a tender heart and we all just adore her. We wish we were with Ava today to help her celebrate.

There once was a princess named Ava
Who thought fruit snacks had an excellent flava
She held tea parties, wore pink and loved everything pretty
Her family adored her and found her quite witty
The days passed too soon and Ava turned five
Today is the day we dance the Ava jive!

We love you soo much!

As Winter quickly approaches, we've discovered a growing enthusiasm for bicycling at our house. In particular, Casey has been begging to go ride his bike, our bike trailer, then his bike often as possible while the sun is out. Strike that. He even made me (Daddy) take him for a nighttime ride last night around the 'hood to look at Christmas lights.

As you can see, Casey has the bug for life on two wheels. I have no idea where that came from. Lucky for him, Mommy and Daddy LOVE to ride too! Now for a few of the more obvious hurdles to Casey's new hobby - baby brother Erik arriving any day now AND the onset of a rainy season.

Nothing like the shortest days of the year AND precipitation to drive a 3 year old to pedal like there's no tomorrow.

Here's to an adventurous winter for all, even if it means taking your kids for a ride when everyone else is inside by the fire :-)

Towel skirts are soo much fun!

Last night, after Casey's bath, Pedar made Casey a towel skirt and he loved it! It really is the little things, like a towel skirt or an unexpected gingerbread cookie that remind us to smile and giggle...even when times seems a little harder than usual. Hope this pic of Casey in his towel skirt brings a smile to your sweet face!

Polar Express Train Ride

Last night Pedar, Casey and I went on the Polar Express Train Ride. It was our second time and this year was just as fun. Casey loved getting dressed in his jammies and seeing Santa.

Count down for baby Erik....

Only a few more weeks till baby Erik arrives. I am working till Dec. 19th and then I plan on cleaning, organizing, know...anything to get this baby out!

I feel pretty good. We are really excited about meeting this little guy and seeing what he looks like!

The house projects are starting to wind down too. The microwave has been placed in the kitchen, the pantry is done, the kitchen/computer cabinet just needs to be installed. The bathroom still has a hole in the ceiling, but Pedar is going to install the new bathroom fan soon. Other than that, there are just a few other small items and then with a bit of cleaning, I will feel somewhat relaxed and ready. Can you ever feel relaxed and ready around the Holiday's??

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! We got up early this morning and walked three miles in the "Run to Feed the Hungry!" This has been a tradition for us for the past seven years. Casey loved it and we love being out with the Sacramento community in the morning and getting a little exercise in before we stuff our faces!!

We hope you have an awesome day. We are grateful to have such amazing friends and family. We are SO LUCKY!!

Casey caught a fish!

Casey's friend Riley bought him an awesome Spider Man fishing pole... so we set out this morning to catch a whopper! I think Casey was most excited about the big red worms we bought for bait. We put his pole in the river and the next thing we knew...he caught a fish! When we told him we needed to put it back in the river he said, "No, I want to cook it and eat it for dinner!" It was so cool. We almost caught two more, but they got away. It was a very successful first fishing adventure. We look forward to many more!

Apple Hill

Bridget, Nana, Pop-Pop and I recently went up to Apple Hill with Liam and Casey. We had a great time and have adorable pictures to share!

...a hole in my kitchen, dear Liza...dear Liza

So...with less than seven weeks to go till we meet our little guy, I am increasingly becoming anxious about getting things organized and completed. I am still working full time and being super Mom to Casey, which doesn't leave much time for cleaning, organizing and completing all those darn little projects I REALLY want to finish before baby Erik arrives.

Pedar is working on "the hole in the kitchen" project. We have had an empty closet in our kitchen, it used to be the home for the heater, for over four years. We have completed several other projects in the interim, but just haven't gotten to this one. The goal is to finally make this closet into a pantry. Pedar has stripped it, put in a floor and completed the electrical. I pray that this weekend he will sheet-rock it and we will be well on our way to completing this darn thing.

Ladies: You know what it means when your husband is completing house projects, it means that the child attention/entertainment falls on you. I love that the project is getting done, but it really needs to get done soon, know what I mean?

We also hired a very talented carpenter, Naman, to build a small desk/cabinet to contain our desk/computer. Erik's room was the office, and now it is a very cute nursery. The cabinet is sitting in the garage, just waiting to be painted and installed.

Our house was built in 1955, it is about 1188 square feet with 3 small bedrooms and 2 small bathrooms. The closets are tiny and there is no door directly to the garage, you've got to walk around the back or the front to do your laundry in the garage. This normally isn't an issue unless it is raining, or you really just want to start a quick load without bringing your baby or child with you, so you take a risk and run to the garage and by the time you get back the kid has made a holy mess or is crying his eyes out because he realized you were gone and wants out of his playpen!! Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful to own a house. It is just now, during this VERY hormonal phase of time, that I wish for less old and more new.

We have two couples that inspire me to keep my mouth shut; Josh & Jen and Kealii & Claire. They each live in less than 1000 sq feet homes. They have one bathroom in their house. Whenever we go to visit them, their houses always look amazing, they are filled with love and joy. When I start to get on my rant about the laundry room or small closets and tiny kitchen/living space rant....I think of them and I shut my mouth in humility.

I really look forward to posting pictures of our finished kitchen project soon. I hope you all are doing great and look forward to seeing you.

Halloween Party

We decided to throw Casey an early 4th Birthday party because his birthday is Dec. 22 and his brother is arriving Dec. 26th and well...I'm getting big people!

We hosted a small Halloween party. There is nothing cuter (other than a sleeping child) than kids in costumes, we had a blast. The weather was amazing today, it was about 83 degrees. We might have to make this early bday party a tradition!! It might just be what I have to do with two kids whose birthdays are four days apart in late December! Craziness.

Picture Day!

Oh my goodness...can this kid be any cuter?? Here is a pic of Casey from his school picture day. I will post the entire class picture soon. Two more months and this sweet boy will be FOUR!!

Getting bigger....

I'm getting bigger and bigger....and Casey is getting sweeter and sweeter. Yesterday morning he walked into my room and said, "I love baby Erik!" And then he hugged me. Last night baby Erik was kicking and I put his hand on my belly and the baby kicked right into his hand. Casey's entire face lit was awesome. I have over ten weeks to go till this baby is here. I am feeling heavier and more tired and I feel a tremendous desire to clean and get everything done. I need more time!!!
