Save money and rent an awesome dress

Have you heard about Rent The Runway?

My beautiful and smart sister-in-law (Thank you, Dagny!) told me about an awesome website called, Rent The Runway. She recently rented an amazing Monique Lhuillier dress for her engagement party. The gorgeous dress retails at $498 and she rented it for $40.

What is it all about? As they say on their website, “Think of us as your best friend with a much bigger closet.” It is a website that rents high-end designer apparel and accessories on a 4 or 8 day basis. Women can rent dresses and accessories from over 100 designers and brands including Herve Leger, Diane von Furstenberg, Proenza Schouler and Badgley Mischka.
How much? Dress rentals start from $40 for 4 days and $10 for accessories.

What do I love about it? Checking out pictures of “real” women, not just size 0 models wearing the dress you are thinking of wearing. You can truly get an idea of what the dress might look like on beautiful bodies likes ours.

I am thinking about all the dresses I don't love, sitting in Erik's closet (because that is where my dresses are!) and wishing I had known about RTR sooner!! I am super excited to try RTR and will definitely let you know how it goes!

Here’s how it works:

1. FIND IT: Search their collection of dresses and accessories for your rental date (they recommend 1–2 days before your event), then filter by designer, price, length — even style — to narrow down your favorites.

2. BOOK IT: Once you've selected your items, book for a 4-day or 8-day rental period. They also offer all the essential extras like Spanx and Fashion Tape.

3. WEAR IT: Your order will arrive by 8PM on your delivery date via UPS (or by courier in NYC). Time to slip it on and shine!

4: RETURN IT: After your night out, send back your items in the easy pre-paid envelope provided — they'll take care of the dry cleaning. Don't forget to upload a photo and review to Our Runway.
