Happy Birthday, Dad

Here is a picture of my Dad returning home from Vietnam. I want to stop and thank my Dad for turning me on to so many good things. My Dad loves music. The record player was always playing. I remember listening toThe Doors, Bette Midler, Johnny Mathes, Barbra Streisand, Motown, Stevie Wonder, Supremes, Aretha Franklin and so many more. He also LOVES comedians. We listened and watched so many. He loves Bill Murray, Jerry Lewis, Lou Costello, Robin Williams and so many more. Here is a short list of some of my favorite things my Dad has taught me throughout the years:

1. Chores should be done to music, turned up really loud.
2. You should watch funny movies when you're down, or just all the time.
3. Work hard and the rest will fall in line.
4. A good book is a great escape.
5. Give it up to God. Say a prayer and hope for the best.
6. Just get through it. Things won't stay/feel or be the same in a day/week/month or year from now.
7. Dip chips and cottage cheese are yummy.
8. Always offer someone visiting something to eat and drink.
9. Make people laugh.
10. Maintain your weight. Have a number in your head and stick to it.
11.  Your brake is your best friend. #brakeisyourbestfriend
12. When you're tired, you should slow down. Get some rest.
13. Clean up as you go and you won't have as much to do.
14. When you're driving, always think of what the other drivers are going to do. Be aware. Look all around you. Drive defensively.
15. If you are being shot at, run in a zig-zag pattern.
Picture of my Dad in Panama. He stayed with the Air National Guard after Vietnam and retired as a Chief. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller for most of his career at Sacramento Metro Airport, Moffett Naval Airport Field and Executive Airport.
Tomorrow, September 12 is my parents 43rd wedding anniversary. Congratulations!!

Happy Birthday, Dad. I love you.
